In this lesson we cover a few techniques that are going to make your playing far more exciting. Tonguing is the stopping of the reed and the release of air through the saxophone, this makes your playing sound more punctuated and driven. We also cover the opposite effect whereby we avoid using the tongue entirely and just blow, creating a smooth (legato) effect. Be sure to maintain a solid air stream through both of these techniques!

Topics covered in this lesson are:

  • Legato playing
  • Tonguing
  • Constant Air Flow
